The plot was 40'x60', in which there were a few existing trees. The idea was not to cut any trees, which resulted in a central courtyard that became the focal point of the house. The whole ground floor, except the living and the foyer, was lifted up to accommodate the semi-basement parking, which also created an interesting play of levels between the living and the courtyard. The courtyard was designed to be at the centre with the staircase wrapping around it. This enables the courtyard to be enjoyed from all the common areas on the ground and the first floor. The elevation was done as an amalgam of tropical and modern styles of architecture, reflecting the essence of Top architecture in Bangalore.
