OUR STORY

Location: Bangalore

Samayam is a thoughtfully designed mixed-use residence on a compact 30’ x 50’ south-facing plot, seamlessly integrating a rental unit and a private home while maintaining the appearance of a single-family residence. The ground floor houses the rental unit with independent access, while the upper floors accommodate a private residence for a family of four and their dog, accessed discreetly to preserve visual unity. The design is inspired by the play of light and shadow, with large openings, vertical slots, and skylights bringing natural light deep into the interiors. The first floor features open-plan living, dining, kitchen, and a guest bedroom, while the second floor includes bedrooms and a centrally placed puja space highlighted by skylight patterns. The children’s bedroom showcases a playful grid design with Jaisalmer and Kota stone, while the master bedroom adopts a more classical style with wooden paneling. The terrace level includes a multipurpose room and a geometrically landscaped garden, offering a contrast to the interiors. The façade blends modern and earthy elements, combining exposed concrete with brick cladding. Samayam stands as a refined response to urban living—balancing privacy, functionality, and aesthetics through thoughtful design, light, and material expression.
